Usage
The Defender non-magnetic loudspeaker was designed for use where the presence of a magnetic field could influence the performance of a compass, such as on a yacht, or where the performance of a normal magnetic loudspeaker could be influenced by strong external electrical fields, such as on high voltage power transmission pylons.
The Defender has a frequency response limited to the range normally encompassing the distress calls of birds and is not designed for accurate speech or music reproduction.
The design of the Defender is intended to make it self draining, in the event of a wave hitting it when installed on a yacht or in driving rain when installed on a power transmission pylon.
The loudspeaker enclosure is built from aluminium, seam welded and powder coated to withstand extreme weather conditions. It is supplied with two stainless steel mounting systems; when mast mounted, one defender can fully cover vessel lengths of up to 36 metres, additional units being required for longer vessels.
The Defender is designed for use with the Scarecrow One-Shot and Scarecrow Marina, both of which can be powered from 110v/220v ac 50Hz or dc supplies, the latter sourced from batteries, solar cells, wind or tide power generators of appropriate specifications.
